It’s been about 3 years since I’ve updated this blog.  Wow, maybe it has been longer.  Anyway, I’m gonna take some time to rework the blog, make it fresh and get back to posting regularly.  Promise.  Stay tuned for blog updates, follow me on twitter : http://www.twitter.com/heathactor

Mr. Payne from No Payne No Glory finally got us Lost podcasters in a Fantasy Football league in 2009.  It was a battle all year.  Of the podcasters who competed in this year’s league : Heath Solo (Lost revisited Now), Ryan (The Transmission), MK Lost, Mr. Payne, The ODI, Jack (Jay and Jack podcast), among other Payne’s peeps.  But it came down to only having one winner.  And yes, with dominance, the team from the Lost revisited Now took home the championship.  The Dharma Fighting LaFleurs were crowned the best team in 2009.

 THOSE FIGHTING FLOWERS!!!!!

As wriiten by Nfl.com :

Dharma Fighting LaFleurs won the The LOST Fantasy League Championship by a score of 139 to 98 over Palermoway84. Donovan McNabb led the team in scoring in the championship round and Chris Johnson led the team in scoring for the season. Congrats once again to Dharma Fighting LaFleurs on a terrific Fantasy Football Season. Hope to see you all next year!

"I told you the Fighting LaFleurs were the best team in town, boys"

Yes, we are 5 months or so away from the Lost season 6 premiere.  There are new shows premiering over the next two weeks and while I’m exciting for shows : Flash Forward, V, Criminal Minds, Curb your Enthusiasm, Fringe and Law and Order, I’m missing Lost.  But I’m a huge football fan so I have more than enough TV enjoyment to get me through till January.

I’ve been a frequent fantasy football player since 1991.  What is Fantasy football?  It’s a fun statistical league where you draft NFL players and based on what they do each week, you get points.  Each week if your players score more points than your opponent, you win.   The top teams make the playoffs and you compete until there is one champion.  It’s a real fun way to follow and enjoy football.  I’m a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, but if I draft a player that plays for Cincinnati, I’ll now be  interested in watching that game.  So it gives you a chance to enjoy games you normally would not,  allows you to have some fun with friends, and it’s just plain exciting!

I was approached by Mr. Payne last year to play in a Lost league.  I of course said yes and I am a part of the Lost Fantasy league.  Not everyone is a Lost podcaster, but we got some names you will recognize.

Week 1 results are in the books and there were some battles.  I was down 20 points to Mr. Payne going into Monday night, and Wes Welker and the Chargers defense came through.  Also, Ryan’s team made a trade before the season, but his line up didn’t have a third wide reciever, so they gave him an invalid roster and no points (we start a QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, K, DEFENSE.).  It’s too bad because he has Drew Brees, QB for the Saints,  who threw for 6 tds on Sunday vs the Lions.

I will give reports on the league during the end of the Lost Revisited Now podcasts.  The fanatsy league is played for free using NFL.COM  Here are the results for week 1 :

DHARMA FIGHTING LAFLEURS  79  NO PAYNE NO GLORY  79

PACKERS 62  MK LOST 53

Comic Con 2009  is in full swing.  I mean full swing.  Our good friends from The Transmission are there.  Jay and Jack (Nudia.TV) are doing daily recaps from The Con.  Many many folks are scrambling to get the Ben Linus bobblehead, going to their favorite panels, getting knock down by a Wookie or smelling the order of a freaky fan.  Comic Con is crazy and everyone is just loving it.

So if you are sick of searching for footage and everytime you do a Comic Con search you come with Twilight New Moon this, Twilight that, here is the basics.  Just some simple tidbits of some main findings at Comic Con 2009 :

1.  Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance, for a minute, with Tim Burton at the ALICE IN WONDERLAND  panel.

2.  Elisabeth Mitchell (LOST’s Juliet) promoted her new show V.  She also joined a host of Wonderwoman (Sigourney, Eliza, Ahura) for a panel.  She was asked about Juliet’s fate in season 6 of Lost.  She was coached and pretty much gave a Darlton answer : we’ll see if what Jack did worked.

3.  The new Tron 2 trailer was released.  It looked awesome.  Jeff Bridges was shown in the trailer and the crowd roard!!!!

4.  Dominic Monaghan was announced to be joining the cast of Flash Forward.  He was announced at the end of the panel as “The bassist from Driveshaft!”  He is not in the 2 hour pilot but will debut in epsiode 2. (See my Dom : Confirmed article for more info)

5.  James Cameron hosted the AVATAR panel.  Fans got to see 20 plus minutes of footage.

6.  An all-encompassing  Battlestar Galactica panel paved the way for all things BSG now that the flagship series has come to a close.  The panel was held to preview to major events, the BSG TV movie The Plan and the new series Caprica.

7.  Also debuted was a super-sized trailer for the Guy Ritchie-directed “Sherlock Holmes,“ starring Robert Downey jr, Jude Law and Rachel McAdams.

8.  During the Warner Bros. panel, director Jimmy Hayward revealed footage of his next film,  JONAH HEX.  They also revealed the kick butt poster, oh Ms. Fox…

I like me some Fox

I like me some Fox

9.  The most leaked panel was for Twilight : New Moon.  Kristen stewart looked liked she partied late last night with Keith Richards.

See what I mean....

See what I mean....

10.  The panel for The Book of Eli  generated a lot of buzz.  they premiered the trailer.  On the panel were directors Albert & Allen Hughes, Mila Kunis, Gary Oldman, and Denzel Washington.  Gary Oldman revealed that Batman 3  filming will begin in 2010, with a release most likely in summer of 2011 or 2012.

11.  Producers of the cancelled series Jericho announced continuing the season 3 (Civil War) storyline in a series of comics.

12.   A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET presented the very first trailer of the revival from the iconic 1980s horror film of the same name.  Among the people on the panel were producers Andrew Form and Bradley Fuller, director Samuel Bayer, and Jackie Earle Haley

Comic Con, July 24, 2009-The worst kept secret has been verified during “” panel at San Diego Comic Con this year. Instead of reviving his Charlie Pace character on ““, was on the ABC promo as a new character on “Flash Forward”. His role, however, was neither specified nor will it appear on the two-hour pilot this Fall.

“Is Dominic Monaghan going to be on the show?” was in fact the first question thrown at the panel. Co-creator David S. Goyer refused to answer the question, saying “We’re not going to tell you”. Nonetheless, they ran a series of clips from the show toward the end of the presentation, which eventually show Monaghan in the last one. It was then that Goyer formally confirmed that “the bassist from Driveshaft” is in the show.

Goyer was careful not to spill too much on Monaghan’s character, only mentioning that the name is Simon, and that “he’s kinda a game-changer character who f***s up a lot of things.”

“Flash Forward” will premiere on September 24 at 8/7c. It tells about a phenomenon where everyone in the world passes out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds and has a vision of the future. But it centers on newly sober Mark Banford (Joseph Fiennes), an FBI agent who is patching up his life and marriage.

Although it bears Monaghan and similar sci-fi qualities, Goyer emphasizes that “Flash” is none like “Lost”. He explained, “Nothing is ever going to be the new ‘Lost’,” adding ” ‘Lost’ is this genre-breaking show that was its own thing, unique and daring and challenging. I thought, if they’re courageous enough to put that on the air, they’ll be courageous enough to put (‘Flash’) on the air.”

HEATH SOLO : What normally happens with TV shows.  The pilot is filmed.  If the network likes it, they will give the green light : a 6 or 13 episode order.  Then once it airs, if the ratings keep up with their standards, they will usually order a full season.    Usually after the pilot is filmed and audience tested, they decide if they need to replace actors or maybe hire some new ones.  As what happened in Flash Forward, Dominic Monaghan wasn’t in the pilot but the network decided to cast him afterwards.  Thus creating buzz with the hopes Charlie Pace fans will watch and watch.  Very smart move by ABC.  I’ll watch……and watch…..

Here is some news from comic con about Flash Forward’s Alternate Reality Game (A.R.G.) that will start August 16, 2009.

I do not deserve any credit for finding this but it’s from the site :  www.tvovermind.com  and reporter Jopinionated  from comic con :

Our intrepid gal on the Comic Con 2009 floor, Jopinionated, has checked in with an update on the Flash Forward booth setup by ABC. Similar to last year’s Dharma recruitment effort, curious visitors are being invited in by mock staff to record their “Flash Forward” for a project called “Join The Mosaic.” Outside the booth, a sign reads:

What Did You See?

This fall the entire world blacks out for 2:17 seconds. During that time we each see a vision of the future – a Flash Forward of where we will be on April 29, 2010.

The Moscaic Collective is an online database that aims to put together a picture of the future, of Flash Forward at a time.

JOIN THE MOSAIC

Share your Flash Forward here at Comic-Con in one of our mobile recording booths or online at http://www.JoinTheMosaic.com starting August 16th.

It only takes a few minutes so please share yours now. No matter how big or small, every Flash Forward helps us put the picture together.

The site itself gives you a serious looking blank page. Seriously. It’s blank. Unlike last year’s LOST game, this Flash Forward experience will likely finish. The Dharma game was pulled due to budget reasons (although, many fans were disappointed with it as well). The Flash Forward game is kicking off at the height of the Flash Forward buzz, so chances are there will be tons of participation.

I talked to Jopinionated just moments after her appointment in the booth.  She described the overall experience as being very much like the Dharma Wants You booth from last year.  “I went up to the booth first thing because of how crazy the LOST booth got last year.  It is literally the same booth, even the same girl who was wearing a Dharma suit last year – so she obviously works for ABC Public Relations. They take you into the booth with this little video camera, tell you to press record, and you can say what you want for three minutes.  So I came up with this story about how I was on a bench on a beach and these guys in a white suburban took me to this warehouse and put me in a chair with a spot-light.  Then these people with no faces started asking me questions about my life, and my childhood.  Then they took me to my childhood home, and just as the three minutes was expiring I said ‘I opened the door, and guess who was there.'”

Nice cliff hanger Jo! Apparently they thought so as well, they stopped Jo on her way out and told her that her recording would be on the website in August and gave her a business card with a phone number on it.  Whoa.  Watch this space for updates on the FlashForward business card.

Chad in Indiana’s Top 10 Favorite Films  as told by Chad :

The Film List BABY!!! I love your show … it gets me through my workday.

10. Heavyweights – I am not a huge fan of slapstick comedy, but this film just gets me. It is what I think to be Ben Stiller’s best comedic role, as the crazy fitness instructor.

9. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – Really great acting from Jim Carey & Kate Winslett plus a great thought provoking story … almost trippy.

8. Swingers – What a fun, cool, funny guys movie. I like the laid back feel it has, and it feels very realistic.

You're money baby...

You're money baby...

7. The Royal Tenenbaums – Awesome surreal world that Anderson builds with a great all-star cast. It has a great dreamy feel to it that I like and has great dry humor.

6. The Virgin Suicides – This movie is all about the haunting and surreal feel to the film. The whole thing almost feels like a dream. It also has great music that adds to the flavor. It is chilling story that really puts you into the character of the young boys … who ended up knowing nothing about the girls … just like we as viewers feel at the end … why did they do it?

5. The Big Lebowski – This movie is just cool. It has awesome humor, and it is very quotable. The character of The Dude is amazing, John Goodman is great in this, and you can’t forget about the Nihilists … WE BELIEVE IN NOSSSSTHHING, LEBOOOWWWSKI  .. ha

4. Snatch – Cool, stylized film … cool characters …  funny …one of the best opening sequences to any film I have see.

3. Rushmore – Smart, funny film with a great soundtrack. Bill Murray is awesome … Jason Schwartzman is fantastic and is very believable in his role. The film is so maticulous, you can tell that everything in the film has been thought through with the greatest detail. I love that this old business man and young student can strike up a friendship … but they are both ruthless .. ha

2. Raiders of the Lost Ark – It’s really hard to think of a more enjoyable movie to watch … great action and comedy … you can’t ask for more .. perfection.

1. Bottle Rocket – This is the film that introduced me to the dry humor in movies that I have come to love. It basically shaped my sense of humor. The characters and dialogue in this film are so funny. Every time I watch it, new things jump out and crack me up … the subtle things are great. EVeryone needs to give this film a try … It’s the Wilson bros. jump off and also Wes Andersons
