SOLO:  I am a frequent audience member at one of the best theaters in the greater Los Angeles Area, The Archlight in Hollywood.  They have assigned seating, a great gift shop, a bar with some great cocktails and appetizers.  The patrons that attend this theater are smart movie goers.  They are not obscene, they don’t take 5 minutes to open a candy wrapper, and are very aware of their surroundings.  There isn’t a bad seat in the house and the Archlight staff are A+ in my book.  There is also a great chance you will sit down and watch a film right next to a celebrity.  I’ve had the great luck to watch a film one seat away from actress Famke Janssen.  Wow, she looks so good in person.  It was at a screening of the Nicole Kidman film BIRTH.  The film wasn’t that great but having Famke one seat away was stellar.  I had to sneak a peek at her a few times but had to be covert as I was with my girlfriend at the time.

My Dream Girl?????

My Dream Girl?????

All in All, the ARchlight is my all-time favorite theater.  And yes, their was a Flash Forward premiere there last night.  here is the article by The Eaminer LA writer Peter Gonzaga :

Last night at the Arclight Theaters in Hollywood, CA, a group of “Entertainment Weekly” readers had a chance to meet and watch a sneak peek episode of ABC’s new series “FlashForward.” Walking the impromptu press line included the stars of the show John Cho, Jack Davenport, Courtney Vance, Zach Knighton, Christine Woods, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan and Brian O’Byrne. Unfortunately, Joseph Fiennes was a no show.

One photographer said that was one of the main reasons for her excitement of covering the special screening of “FlashForward.” I’m sure many fans were hoping to see Mr. Fiennes.

“FlashForward” is about the humans in the whole world blacked out at the same time. A worldwide phenomena of individuals experiencing the future. Each character has a story to tell.

The stars of the show began trickling in the VIP lounge area around 6pm to enjoy some light hor ‘douvres and drinks from the bar. Dominic Monaghan laughed before entering the photo press line and quipped that he better put down his cocktail before taking his photos. He jokingly talked to the photographers saying that it’s the worst thing of  having a photo with a drink in your hand because if one ever has to go to rehab, that photo will be the one that runs. Not that Mr. Monaghan would need rehab.

Interestingly when the stars of the show arrived, the men congregated together while the various women sat in separate areas of the lounge. As the night wore on before the screening, the ladies did warm up and began hanging out together. One might say that the cast is still building up camaraderie.

“FlashForward” premieres Thursday, September 24, 2009 on ABC.

The Flash Forward Podcast LIVE with Heath and Ms. Wendy episode 2 will go live on Talkshoe 9pm est September 25, 2009.

Heath Solo is back!

September 3, 2009-It’s been a few weeks.  Summer is ending and life has been crazy for me .  Like most of you know, we get involved in projects that push our commitments to the fullest. We take on tasks that we feel we can accomplish, but sometimes time is our worst enemy.

I haven’t blogged much in the last month : vacation, podcasting, finishing my script, etc.  I have posted weekly blu-ray releases and some TV info, but I have yet to actually start my daily blog.  I wanted to blog each day about random topics.  Anything on my mind that happens in “Heath’s World.”  Ok, one more time, “Party time, excellent.”  Got to love it Nancy Drew.  So I’m going to do my best to put out a daily blog.  I’m shooting for every day but there may be one to 2 days a week that we don’t get a daily blog.  But I want to be able to release something everyday whether it is Lost related, Film List related, life, TV or film related.  So I will do my best to keep it going.

Finishing up my latest script has taken up all my time this summer.  I have taken a break from podcasting and blogging.  It’s important that I finish my screenplay by late September.  I’m on my 4th draft and it’s almost there.  This draft has made some leaps and bounds, so I see the 5th and final draft just being a “cross the T’s and dotting the I’s” draft.  So I will have the latest draft done this weekend, have a meeting, then work on the last and final draft over two weeks there after.  I’m also in the middle of another screen play that I’m developing for a network that I can’t say at this time.  It’s a less complicated script, so I’m giving myself a bit of latitude to get it finished.  But I do want to have a solid draft by October.

With that said, the tough part is over.  Time is becoming mine again and it’s perfect because I want to get on a more frequent podcasting schedule.  Next Monday, September 7th, 2009,  Ms. Wendy and I will be doing our first Flash Forward podcast.  It will be an introduction to this new show.  We are excited as it is our most anticipated new show we want to examine.

We will also be doing one  Lost podcast a month.  We will tackle the season finales we have yet to cover and do a few podcasts previewing the final Lost  season coming in 2010.  As we get closer to the season 6 premiere, we may add 2-3 extra podcasts to our plate.  The anticipation of the new season will get our motors running for putting out Lost content.

The Film List podcast  will resume also.  I have been trying to schedule a date with Donald and Agent Shadow to discuss season 2 of the X-files.  But we haven’t been able to nail down a date yet.  Plus as I have almost completed my rewatch of season 2, the slim set I have doesn’t have the finale on the last disc.  Donald told me that there was some problems with the season 2 slim set not having the finale.  So I wasn’t the only one who this happened to.  How can they forget to put the finale on these sets?  Are you kidding me?     I am so pissed that I payed money for a product that wasn’t complete.  Guess I am netflixing the last disc.

So with that said, Heath’s World  is back in full force.  Podcasts will be in full effect starting on September 7th, and I am excited.  Plus the much promised Heath’s Top 100 favorite films of all-time is on it’s way.  In September, I will be putting out numbers 100-91 on the Film List.  Also, I will be adding to Heath’s World : a Lost alums page, more fans top 10’s, and some new ideas from listener Tom Wilson.  Tom contacted me on doing a podcastof my experiences with auditioning for television and  the process.  Such a great idea Tom.  That will definitely be on the horizon for October.

So I’m back, ready to rock, thank you for checking out the blog and listening to the podcast.  Talk to you soon.

Heath Solo

As listeners to the TLRNow podcast know, me and Ms. Wendy do a segment called “Lost Alums.”  Other : Films, TV, etc. where we see Lost actors.  I had the privilege to see Public Enemies last night.  A great drama with Johnny Depp as John Dillinger.  The film had director Michael Mann’s classic feel : Hard rock and amazing shootouts.  The film had the 1080p feel, as it was shot digitally.  The film takes place in the 1930s, during the height of the Great Depression.  I liked the film, but as I ponder today, I think liked will be turned into loved.  Many great actors are in the film : Tommy from Snatch, that Brotherhood guy, Batman, and a special Lost alum.  That Lost alum was Claire, her real name, Emilie de Ravin.

Emile de Ravin on the set of 'Public Enemies'

We haven’t seen Emilie in Lost for over a year now, but her film career is starting to take off.  She has been coined by some as the new Indie queen (Independent films) though I have yet to hear that for myself.  But she is working.  though she was only in 1 sequence of the film, it was good to see Emilie in Public Enemies.  I mean, who wouldn’t want to be in a Michael Mann/Johnny Depp film.  Hell, give me one line and I’d be singing in the streets.  Congrats Emilie!

Ryan Reynolds to star in ‘Buried’

Actor will follow up ‘Proposal’ with indie film

Ryan ReynoldsReynolds

After starring with Sandra Bullock in romantic comedy “The Proposal,” Ryan Reynolds has lined up a much grittier proposition for his next film.Reynolds will star in “Buried,” playing a civilian contractor who’s kidnapped in Iraq and awakens buried in a coffin in the desert, armed only with a cell phone, a candle and a knife.

Rodrigo Cortes will direct a script by Chris Sparling; production will begin this month in Barcelona.

Peter Safran will produce through his Safran Co. banner with Adrian Guerra of Spain-based Versus Entertainment, which is financing the film. The picture will shoot entirely in Spain, which is home to Cortes, best known for directing “The Contestant.”

Reynolds takes the job after the showy role of Deadpool in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and “The Proposal.”

He decided to go the indie route as a way to stretch his acting chops in a movie with a claustrophobic premise, and one in which he holds the screen through most of the picture.

Reynolds, the writer and director are repped by UTA.

21 Jumpstreet : Revisited

One of my favorite shows of all-time : 21 Jumpstreet.

Happy times in Jumpstreet land....

Happy times in Jumpstreet land....

It started the careers of Johnny Depp, Richard Grieco, and Holly Robinson.  On my all-time favorite TV show podcast, I talked about the episode “Woolie Bullies” where the Jumpstreet crew spoke about their run-ins with bullies in the past.  My favorite, Dennis Booker’s story.  Everyone is embarrassed telling their youthful stories of being terrorized by those 11-13 year olds that made their lives a livin” hell.  But Booker’s story, well, you got to see it.  It reminds me of  my very own bulley story.  In 5th grade, I dated, for like a week, one of my friends sisters.  Hey I know, 5th grade.  but I bought her a ring, etc.  But then when I broke up with her, my friend Josh kept pickin’ on me in art class.  He just wouldn’t stop.  He even had  all my friends against me.  So I did what I had to do.  I challenged him to a fight.  He had to be big and bad.  He said,”Fine, 4 o’clock after school.”  I said, “No, now.”  I popped him in the face right there in art class.  He dropped like a sack of potatoes.  Let’s just say, he was never a problem ever again.  It reminds me of the clip below.  Oh, happy times.

Thanks to Jd Man, he sent me the link of that particular scene.  Check it out below :

Director: Megan Fox ‘Says Some Very Ridiculous Things’ by Us Magazine :

July 1, 2009 – Megan Fox slammed “Transformers” director Michael Bay for focusing more on special effects than acting, but he doesn’t mind. “Well, that’s Megan Fox for you,” Bay tell the Wall Street Journal. “She says some very ridiculous things because she’s 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do.  “You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, ‘Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it,'” he goes on. Fox told Entertainment Weekly: “I mean, I can’t s— on this movie because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don’t want to blow smoke up people’s a–. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting.”  Bay says he “100 percent disagrees” with Fox. “Nick Cage wasn’t a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in ‘Armageddon.’ Shia LaBeouf wasn’t a big movie star before he did ‘Transformers’ — and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from ‘Bad Boys’,” he points out.   Bay thinks Fox could be a little more grateful, though. “Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers,” he says. “I like to think that I’ve had some luck in building actors’ careers with my films.”

Wow, nice book collection!

Wow, nice book collection!

Wow.  Some of us would give their left…..to be in a blockbuster like Transformers.  There is also that term, don’t bite the hand that feeds you.  I guess this is what I call the lack of the struggle.  When actors make it big at a young age, you see the world in a different light.  Your young, famous, and rich.  You got the world by the….and you buy into the hype.  It happens.  Can you remember when you where 23?  Add a few million in the pocket, people taking your photo every where you go, no privacy and oh yeah, you think it’s going to last forever.  Not that I agree at what she says but oh boy, life in Hollywood.  And for Michael Bay to defend his movie?  Bravo.  At least he just wasn’t PC and said, “Oh that Megan.  she is a character.”  But his explosion.  Wow.  Whether you like his views or not, he’s kind of right.  But who cares, Megan Fox is hot and she serves a purpose.  Michael Bay is a powerful director who will continue to kick ass in his movies and guess what, we’ll forget about this article and still go in droves to the movies to see their films.  Like the sheep we are.  So, what’s next?

On my podcast, The Film List, we’ll be discussing season 1 of the X-files. Joining me will be Agent Donald, Agent Anna, and Agent Shadow.  For this podcast I will be known as agent Solo.  The podcast goes live today, July 2nd at 4pm est.

Season 1 not on blu-ray, yet?

Season 1 not on blu-ray, yet?

We will be discussing the episodes of season 1, the characters of Mulder and Scully, what episodes worked, pretty much how it all began.
